Zen Wallis, 15, from Piha shows his form during the annual Polar Bear Surf Classic competition held at Sandy Bay at the weekend.
North Coast Boardriders' Mal Egginton - who has been running the Classic since it started 27 years ago - said while the two-day competition lost a couple of its big names, including local hero Paco Divers, after being postponed twice because of a lack of swell, it was a big success. Sizeable surf helped competitors, as did mild water temperatures.
