Multiple New Zealand Rally Championship winner Richard Mason will be plying his trade on Northland roads tomorrow as the Northern Rally Sprint Series comes to Mangapai.
Pre-race rumours were accurate after the Northern Car Club received Mason's entry for this weekend's round.
Northern Car Club spokesperson Grant Parkins said Mason'sentry was a pleasant surprise. Mason would most likely be putting his new car to the test as the New Zealand Rally Championship looks set to take off in the coming months, he said.
"There was a rumour around. But until you get the entry form you don't really know. It's a bit of a surprise because you don't usually see Mason up here, apart from the Rally of Whangarei they don't really come up here often.
"It's a level below the [New Zealand] rally series," Parkins said.
