New Zealand allrounder Scott Styris will play his domestic cricket for Northern Districts next summer.
Styris, who has spent the past five years with Auckland, will join the Plunket Shield holders when his international commitments allow.
The 35-year-old resurrected his international career last season with a series of compelling performances in the one-day and Twenty20 formats.
That led to him being included in New Zealand Cricket's list of 20 contracted players this week, a status he lost a year ago.
Styris originally emerged from Northern Districts and his impending return has been welcomed by ND chief executive David Cooper.
"Scott proved how significant his performances are at an international and domestic level when setting up wins for New Zealand and Auckland last year," Cooper said.
"This ability to perform under pressure adds another string to our bow as we aim for more trophies this coming season."
Styris was to leave New Zealand yesterday for Darwin with other members of the New Zealand team who are preparing for a one-day tri-series against India and hosts Sri Lanka next month.
