TALENTED FIELDS of high school runners competed in the third annual Rod Dixon Mile race, held at Otamatea High School at Maungaturoto on Saturday.
While the grass track was too heavy for quick times, the racing was top-class.
Christchurch's Margot Gibson took out the girls' race, while Auckland's Cameron Graves ran a good race in the boys' event to edge out last year's winner Tadele Tekle-Haimanot.
The first Northland runner across the line in the girls' race was Melissa Simpson. Dargaville's Hamish Younger won the prize for top Northland boy.
