Boys, girls succeed
SQUASH: Whangarei Squash Club Junior Squash Academy members tasted success at the South Island Junior Age Group Championship Titles tournament that ended this week in Timaru. Sam Sayes, the number one seed, won the Under-15 Boys title at the four-day tournament. Reagan Wakeling-Geange was placed fourth, Max Trimble fifth and Sam Dykzeul 12th. No 3 seed Finn Trimble won the Under-13 Boys final. Under-13 Girls competitor Zoe Dykzeul came fourth, while in the Under-19 Boys division, Chris Smith placed 13th.

LEAGUE: In tomorrow's final round-robin matches in the Whangarei City and Districts Rugby League Competition Bay Slayers will play Otaua at Kerikeri, Moerewa will face Hokianga at Simson Park, Wairoa will play Takahiwai at Dargaville, Hikurangi will play City at Otaika Sports Park and Portland will host Marist. All games will kick off at 2.30pm. Points after round 15: Hikurangi 28, Bay 25, Portland 22, Kaikohe 21, Moerewa 18, Wairoa 16, Takahiwai 14, City 12, Hokianga 12, Otaua 7, Marist 5.
Top win for King
SQUASH: New Zealand squash No 1 Joelle King beat Ireland's world No 4 Madeline Perry overnight 11-9 11-2 11-6 in the first round of the US$60,000 ($70,120) Malaysian Open in Kuala Lumpur. King, 22, the world No 14, will next play French world No 8 Camille Serme.
Khan injury blow for India
CRICKET: India suffered a major blow on day one of the first test with England at Lord's today, when Zaheer Khan pulled up with an apparent hamstring injury - leaving England on 127-2 in a afternoon session that was interrupted by rain. Khan was India's best bowler, claiming figures of 2-18 before he pulled up in the middle of the 42nd over, clutching his thigh. Dragons keep Cooper LEAGUE: St George Illawarra centre Matt Cooper, 32, has signed a two-year contract keeping him at the Dragons for the rest of his NRL career.
Paraguay makes final
