Threatened wet weather did not eventuate and Good Friday dawned fine over Kaikohe Speedway for the annual CTRA Championships.
First up were the Super Saloons, where Waikato driver Peter Candy joined Northland drivers Ray Jordan, Max Andresen, Geordie Inglis and Warwick Taylor. Jordan led the field home comfortably in the first heat, while Taylor won heats two and three.
Taylor won the final with Jordan in second and after a high speed spin from Max Andresen, Candy came in third.
Northland's Darren Emm and Rotorua's Alan Wong, both in Holdens, battled for the Super Production Trophy, with Emm emerging the victor. Rex Roycroft came home in third.
The B Saloons clash was won by Dargaville's Craig Nash. Nash and Whangarei's Dan Oliver came together in the third heat and Nash sustained some damage which was repairable, and went on to win the final from Oliver and Dargaville's Aaran Johnston.
