Kerikeri Bay Builders features as one of only two Northland sides lining up amongst the 132 teams from throughout New Zealand preparing to contest the 90th year of ASB Chatham Cup, which gets under way on April 25.
Regarded as the most egalitarian competition in New Zealand sport, this year's event sees Kerikeri featuring in the opening qualification round in a field of an estimated 30 teams.
The Far North side has drawn the short straw and will travel to play Westlake Boys' High School on the North Shore, while the other Northland side, Tikipunga Premiers, travel to West Auckland to face Ranui Swanson.
The winners progress to play in the round one serious on May 11-12.
The format for the Chatham Cup - modelled on England's renowned FA Cup competition - has remained relatively unchanged over its 89-year history; the tournament has been held every year since 1923 apart from 1937 and three years at the end of WWII.
