RUGBY - Saving the Taniwha

The battle is on to Save the Taniwha.
Support has been pouring in from Northland rugby supporters around the country - and around the world - since the New Zealand Rugby Union announced its plans to dump Northland from the nation's premier rugby competition, the Air New Zealand Cup.
The Northern Advocate, along with the Northland Rugby Union and More FM, is spearheading a campaign called Save the Taniwha: Stop the Drop.
On Blue Friday, August 22, we hope to get thousands of people to a support rally at Okara Park in Whangarei at 7pm, ahead of the game against Bay of Plenty.
If you can't make it to Whangarei, there's still plenty you can do. Email your support for Northland - or your messages for the NZRU - to taniwha@northernadvocate.co.nz. We'll make sure they're printed and passed on to the team and the nation's rugby bosses.
