Whangarei Rowing Club were well represented at this year's New Zealand Masters Rowing Championships at Lake Karapiro.

Four female and six male rowers plus a coxswain competed in 13 races, each of them over 1000m. They joined over 400 rowers from 22 New Zealand clubs, two Australian clubs and one from Vanuatu competed in the recent regatta.

The Woman's D Double Sculls and the Mixed D Coxless Four both won gold medals by clear margins. The reigning champion Woman's C Quad also took silver behind a composite crew from North Shore and Cambridge Rowing Clubs.

The club earned a gold medal in the Mixed C Eight which came down a photo finish with Whangarei beating a composite crew from North Shore and Cambridge Rowing Clubs by just 0.07 seconds.

A silver medal went to the Woman's C Coxed Four behind a composite crew from Wanaka and Star Boating (Wellington) Clubs.
