North Force Men's goal-scoring drought continued in their match against Glenfield Rovers, when they went down 2-0 at Auckland's North Shore.
The loss makes it the third consecutive game in the Northern Region Football Federation League's Division 1 where the Northland-based team have failed to find the back of the net, thwarting coach Scott Burgess and the team.
"It's very frustrating for everyone, not just the strikers, because we know they are good enough ... I think it comes down to a lack of confidence in front of goal, and the guys up there needing a bit of self-belief. Hopefully, if we can score one goal, then the floodgates might open," Burgess said.
It is disheartening for the team, who have not scored since their game with Lynn Avon three games ago, when all other aspects of their game are up to speed, the coach said.
"We are creating a number of chances but can't seem to score and, obviously you can't win games if you are not scoring ... so we will go another week working on our finishing as there isn't too much else for us to work on - hopefully, it is easy to fix."
About 20 minutes into the first half, following a free kick, hosts Glenfield put the ball away to take the halftime lead 1-0.
Although they had ample opportunities, and applied good pressure on the opposition, North Force remained scoreless while Glenfield scored another goal in the second half, for the win.
This Sunday, North Force go up against Eastern Suburbs, who are second on the table, seeking to settle a grudge after Eastern Suburbs stole a 1-0 win over North Force earlier this season.
The game will be played at Kamo Sports Park, kicking off at 2.45pm.
In the Northern Football Federation Northland men's championship, Kamo had no trouble finding the back of the goal against Onerahi, defeating them 5-0, while Kerikeri also had a convincing 5-0 win over Bream Bay Flyers. Tikipunga lost to FC Whangarei, 1-3.
