Raumanga Royals' Caleb Henare made his presence felt on court when he shot a season-high 49 points against Kamo Stars at Kensington Stadium, after sitting out a one-week suspension for a technical foul.
Henare's 49 points on Friday night just pipped the previous high of 48 points, shot by City Hawks' Travis McIlroy several weeks back in the inaugural Super Six Basketball Competition.
The Royals ran rampant over Kamo, who have struggled against their tougher opponents and are propping up the points ladder.
Beau Mackey shot an impressive 33 points which helped the Raumanga Royals reach 132 points to Kamo's 76.
Jade Hepi and Jared Duxfield held their own for Kamo however, trying to put their side back in the mix, shooting 23 and 17 points respectively, but it was not enough to match the Royals' intensity and skilful play.
In the other round-seven matches on Saturday, Kaikohe Cougars were out for revenge against the Hawks, in a replay of last week's game where the Hawks trumped the Cougars.
The tables were turned this week, but the Cougars 70-66 win did not come without a battle. With just one minute to go, it was all tied up at 66 apiece.
The final minute was fraught, but the Cougars took their chances and sank the ball when it mattered most.
Portland Blazers continue to lead the competition comfortably after defeating a gutsy Maunu Lights outfit, 98-75.
The frontrunners started slowly but by the second quarter had gathered momentum and were unstoppable.
Walter Smith shot the top-score of 28 for Portland, and Corey Poa supported him, posting 24 points.
Maunu did not give up lightly, however, and Casey Namana was in good form, shooting 20, while Justin Friedrich added 16.
Teams now take a break for Christmas and will resume with round eight on January 14.
