It took a few hundred bullets to find the top shot between Northland police officers and army soldiers.
And it was the police team that managed to claim the top shooter accolade and retain the prestigious Police v Army Challenge Shield.
The police have dominated the competition with the army only winning the wooden shield once since 1975.
About 24 shooters turned up to the Maunu Pistol Club recently and the event raised $200 for Project Promise.
Constable Paul Nicholas said the day was such a success another event was planned for August. He said a business-house type event was also being considered for November.
