Northland's open men's team have finished a creditable fourth in the C grade at the New Zealand Open Table Tennis Championships in Auckland.
Competitor Brent Davies said the event at Auckland Table Tennis Stadium had been tough. Davies, Leon Cross and Jorg Weinland defeated Waikato and Counties Manukau convincingly this week but lost to Manawatu, Waitemata and Otago, who won the grade.
On Tuesday, the over-65s team of Don Redfern and Fleming Alison will go into their age-group competition as top seeds, while Grant Jones and Davies will contest the over-55s. Under-15 boys' Jared and Evan Jones will line up with Douglas Graham of Counties Manukau in the junior age group.
