Marsden Wheelers proved they could cut it against bigger clubs at the Te Awamutu Junior/Women's Tour, where they had three cyclists place inside the top 10 of their respective divisions.
Under-15 rider Ben Johnstone showed he was a competitor to watch at the tour held over Easter when he took a bronze medal after four stages, only 2min 8sec seconds behind the overall winner Regan Gough.
Another talented junior Mathew Zenovich placed 10th in his 61-strong under-17 field after four stages, before heading to Rotorua where he raced in the CRI Tineli Two Day Junior/Women's Tour.
There he finished eighth on general classification.
The two tours acted as selection races for the under-17 and under-19 teams to travel to Australia in July.
Final selection will not be made until after the national club road champs at Hawke's Bay, at the end of this month.
Meanwhile, Summer Allen-Foote rode her way to fifth spot in the open women's division capping a successful weekend for the Northland cyclists.
Also in action at Te Awamutu was under-19 rider Tim Riddell, who finished 47th in his division ahead of Matthew Markby, who was 48th overall.
