Northland boccia players dominated the Kiwi class at the 2010 North Island Regional Boccia Tournament, crowding out the podium in the build-up towards the nationals in November.
Scott Burdett won gold for his efforts in the two-day tournament at Kensington Stadium, where players and supporters travelled from as far south as Motueka, as well as Auckland, the Far North and Whangarei.
Kimberly McLean took home the Kiwi class silver medal while Michelle Batchelor settled for bronze.
Alex Dickson continued Northland's success, winning the combined BC1 and 2 class, ahead of South Auckland's Fleur Mann and bronze medal winner, Mark Nelson of Northland.
Waitakere's Mandy Slade and Anthea Hurst were too strong in the BC3 category, securing first and second place respectively, ahead of Northland's Andrew Phillips.
The weekend's tournament was ideal preparation for Northland Boccia competitors, who will head to Auckland on November 6-7 for the 2010 Boccia Nationals.
