Northland has completed pool play at the 2010 Toro Women's Interprovincials at the Miramar Golf Course with a comfortable win over Tasman to finish fourth in their division.
Phoebe Perrin, Aroha Tito and Sjanna Bonnington all had wins with Samantha Dangen halving her match while Jo Wech lost her match narrowly
to give Northland a 3.5-1.5 win.
Dangen said the team was pleased with the week apart from a surprise loss to Otago.
"Otago was a big loss for us, we thought we were going to do okay against them but [the former Southland No1] Lisa Henderson has moved up and was playing at No2 for them and that strengthened them and made them a bit tougher to beat," she said.
The loss to the Emily Perry-led Waikato team wasn't unexpected but the size of their defeat, an 0-5 walloping, was disappointing.
But Dangen was very happy with the way they bounced back against last year's runner-up North Harbour.
"We pushed them hard and we thought we might just beat them. The girl's spirits have been really high all week and we were confident of doing pretty well but it's been a case of the bounce of the ball on the day," she said.
Getting used to the conditions has been a factor in the tournament but it has been the same for all the teams - except maybe the locals.
"The wind has been a factor here and it's something we're not used to up north - it's really a confidence thing to hit into the wind and know it's the right shot."
To underline the importance of handling the conditions, the home team Wellington remained unbeaten in division one, to win the section ahead of Auckland in second place with Bay of Plenty missing out on the semifinals on a countback.
Waikato and North Harbour went through to the semifinals at the top of division two, with Otago in third place and Northland fourth.
Northland plays Hawke's Bay in their final match today in the playoff for seventh and eighth.
