The Northern Football Federation's Women's team will play Capital in the semifinals of the ASB Women's League for the third year in a row on Sunday - with Whangarei's Katie Rood looking to add to her seven goals this season as she remains in the running for the golden boot award.

Thankfully for Northern, Thursday's tornado did not damage Whenuapai's Fred Taylor Park where the match will be played.

Defending champions Northern, and Rood, will need to crack the league's tightest defences in Capital - led by former transtasman netballer Cushla Lichtwark between the posts.

Capital unsuccessfully visited Auckland last year for the semifinal showdown and went down 1-0, before Northern went on to win their maiden national title.
