Wahine Toa Combined continued their rise up the ranks with a 42-35 win over Marist Social in Whangarei's premier reserve grade netball competition.
Wahine Toa Combined midcourt player Anya Garland had a wonderful attacking game, feeding the shooters accurately while Kiri Williams at goal attack worked hard and shot well throughout the entire game.
Replacement defender Zara Pineha came in late and pulled off some great rebounds and intercepts at goal keep.
Marist Social's goal defence Maria Easterbrook showed great elevation and strong rebounding. At centre Wendy Skykes was strong on attack and defence and Germaine Gibson at goal shoot held her position well and made good use of space in the circle. She also rebounded well.
Fideliter 3 had another win this week, over BBC Waipu, defeating them 42-31. Fideliter 3's Anna Whittingham came on the second quarter into midcourt and made a big impact bringing the ball through court and was defensively strong.
Andi Roberts and Erin Gunson combined well in defence. BBC Waipu had an improved performance and Chelsea Mitchell and Jess Cole as shooters found some form and shot well.
Wahine Toa 1 remained unbeaten with a close 48-46 win over Fideliter 2.
The game itself was tight with the scores all tied up at both half time and three-quarter time.
Wahine Toa 1's Rita Himiona received the player of the day with her awesome defensive game, showing good vision and anticipation in the circle.
The move of Jaelyn Walker from defence to shooter later in the game was effective, shooting and rebounding well. Fideliter 2's Freda Hemara at wing defence played a nuggety game and set up the defence to get a lot of ball. Megan Christie at goal attack also played a powerful game.
