Netball: Player loss costs Kamo

The ANZ Collegiate Challenge game between Pizza Barn BBC Waipu and Kamo High School was full of twists and turns - and, if Kamo had been able to keep all seven players on court it may have been a different result, but instead Waipu came away with the win by 30-23.

A Kamo player had to leave, and with having only seven players they were forced to play on with six.

For Kamo, Ellie Ihaia and Tapita Paora in defence were awesome and in the mid court Chloe Ludlow at centre in the first half worked hard. Savannah Henare in the shooting circle did some strong court work.

The BBC Waipu shooting combination of Danielle Newton and Haylee Jensen, had some good shots under the post. Anna Worthington at goal defence provided timely intercepts and rebounds. Captain Tivaan Doak Smith put pressure on defence, with pinpoint passing on attack.

Manawanui Collegiate had a good win over lower-graded Huanui College, 49-28.

Manawanui Collegiate managed to win most of the quarters with the exception of the third, which was drawn 10 goals apiece. Injured players meant Huanui were not at full strength.

After two rounds, the Collegiate Challenge now has a break with the next game not scheduled until June 7 due to Kensington Stadium being unavailable next Friday and the following weekend there is no netball.
