Whangarei's under-15 netball team came close to having a perfect competition at the Auckland Representative Tournament, winning three of their four games at an event which had over 100 teams entered.
However, the one loss they suffered meant they did not win their section. Meanwhile most of the other Whangarei Netball Centre (WNC) teams did not have great results.
At the competition earlier this month, it was an early start for the Whangarei teams - which had representation in the under-15, year 9s, year 8s, and year 7 grades - who were on a bus at 5.45am.
The Auckland Netball Tournament comes just a few weeks after a Papakura Representative Tournament, where Whangarei teams did better but it should be acknowledged that at the Papakura tournament the sections the WNC teams were in were not the top teams from each centre.
At the Auckland Netball tournament, the WNC teams were in the Blue sections which included the top teams from all the centres participating so it was always going to be a tougher draw.
