Whangarei Netball Centre's promotion relegation round saw the top two teams and bottom two teams of each grade in action.
There was an exception, however, with the top two teams from premier and the bottom two teams from C-grade not playing. Based on the results from the promotion relegation, there have been minor changes to both the premier and premier reserve grades.
Dive Inn Whangaruru 1 had a 41-10 win over eighth-placed Pizza Barn BBC Waipu and a 45-31 victory over seventh-placed Semco Group Onerahi 2. This means they move from first place in premier reserve to seventh in the premier competition.
Onerahi 2 remain in premiers, in eighth position after a narrow 34-29 win over Wahine Toa 1.
Wahine Toa 1, by losing to Onerahi 2 but beating BBC Waipu 31-12, start the championship round placed first in premier reserve with BBC Waipu in second spot. All other premier and premier reserve grade sides remain the same.
For Whangaruru 1, it was a whole team effort that saw them come away with the two wins.
Harriett Hardy and Reanon Sadler applied good defence in the circle and assisted with feeding the ball through the court while centre Tara Wells and wing defence Jackie Henare concentrated on some fast through-court play.
Karlene Kingi and Sophie Tua combined well in the goal circle providing good space and some nice shots.
For Onerahi 2 against Wahine Toa 1, Kim Leemyer had a strong game at wing defence but a lot of ball went astray which meant they weren't able to get ahead but they did enough to win.
In the second game against Whangaruru, Caitlin McLean at centre got some outstanding intercepts and Toni Tahere at wing attack fed the circle confidently. And, other than the 10-goal deficit in the first quarter, the game was a close one.
For Wahine Toa 1, the attacking combination of Barbara Te Whare and Tiletha Everitt worked hard to get the ball close to the goal before shooting.
This is the trademark of the Wahine Toa attacking team and while not glamorous, it is effective and hard to defend. It was not enough for them to win their game against Onerahi 2 but it was enough for them to win against BBC Waipu.
BBC Waipu continued to be plagued by more injuries and, with off-form shooters adding to their woes, they were never in contention to stay in premier grade. Moengaroa Kailahi in defence worked hard and, given the respective scores, was required to have a high involvement in both games.
The draw for next week is yet to be finalised.
