At the end of the preliminary round and with another win on Friday night, Northland Coastal Development Whangaruru is top of the Premier table.

The remaining Premier teams are ranked as follows; 2nd Active Refrigeration Fideliter 1; 3rd Treewise Marist; 4th Potter Electrical Onerahi 1; 5th Manawanui Red; 6th Active Refrigeration Fideliter 2; 7th WGHS 1 and 8th Takahiwai 1.

The bottom two teams will play Manawanui White and Craig's Firestone Marist, the top two Premier Reserve teams next week to see who is in the Premier grade for the championship round.

Despite the seeded draw and 1 playing 2, 3 playing 4 etc, there were still some big scores. Northland Coastal Development Whangaruru was dominant from start to finish in their game against Potter Electrical Onerahi 1. Onerahi 1 were, however, strong in the third quarter. For Whangaruru, Reanon Hetaraka Sadler at goal keep applied lots of pressures on both Onerahi shooters. Karlene Kingi at goal shoot and Sophy Tua at goal attack combined well in the shooting circle and both contributed strongly to the shooting. For Onerahi 1, Patrice Tarrant in the mid court worked hard on attack and defence and Sharleece Ross Hill at goal attack drove well and provided some accurate shooting. Whangaruru won 62 goals to 44.

Active Refrigeration Fideliter 2 will be very pleased with their win over Takahiwai 1 which makes them safe in Premier grade. Fideliter 2 won every quarter with the exception of the second quarter which Takahiwai 1 won by two goals. And in the main it was a close game with Takahiwai 1 only four goals adrift going into the final quarter. Fideliter 2, however, saved their best to last and they were ruthless in the final quarter crushing any hopes Takahiwai 1 had of a win. For Fideliter 2, player coach Trina Henare showed faith in her team and all match fit players took the court. Nane Maru at goal attack combined well with new team mate Jessie McClintock Maihi at goal shoot in the first half then Trina Henare and McClintock Maihi built on this in the second half. Tiletha Everitt at wing defence provided plenty of turnover ball and overall had a great game. The defence combination of Harono Te Iringa at goal keep and Erin Gunson at goal defence made it hard for the Takahiwai shooters to get the ball. For Takahiwai 1, the defensive duo of Morgana Nathan and Kayla Chapman made the Fideliter shooters work hard and Francida Doak in the mid court led the Takahiwai attacking end. Fideliter 2 won 46 goals to 29.

Active Refrigeration Fideliter 1 was empathic in their win over Treewise Marist. Fideliter 1 comprehensively won every quarter and led the game from start to finish. Marist was competitive in the early stages of the game but they like Takahiwai suffered a very low scoring final quarter. For Fideliter 1, Alisha Takaimoana at goal keep picked up numerous clean intercepts in the main due to the work done by Trina Harris Ruke at wing defence. The mid court players performed well and Hayley Tipene in particular had a solid performance also getting intercepts. The addition of Arona Tipene from half time onwards into the shooting circle at created a new dynamic that paid dividends on the scoreboard. For Marist, the standout player was Tamea Ross at goal attack. She found space and worked tirelessly on attack and she also had a consistent shooting game. In defence Helen Francis and Kelly Middleton combined well and worked hard all game. Fideliter 1 won 60 goals to 29.

Manawanui Red had another good win, this time over WGHS 1 who couldn't pull off consecutive wins. The first half was quite close and at half time there was six goals in it but Manawanui Red had big third and final quarters. For Manawanui Red, Melanie Leef in defence hunted the ball and did a lot of work outside the circle. In mid court Marion Evans at centre worked tirelessly on attack and defence. Gail Shepherd held the fort in the goal circle at goal attack and was assisted by Ringi Hohepa at goal shoot and they were both able to capitalise on possession. For WHGS 1, Kyla Williams at wing attack and Hanna Tukaki at centre combined well to feed the shooters. Oliva Lobb at goal attack had a high work rate and provided some accurate shooting. Manawanui Red won 65 goals to 42.
