Northland triathlete Nicky Samuels finished 16th in the ITU World Triathlon Series in Stockholm on Saturday, with the race improving the London Olympian's overall ranking in the series to 16.
Sweden's Lisa Norden gave the home crowd what they were hoping for, a win on home soil as she claimed her third ITU World Triathlon Series win in a dominant all around performance on the technical course.
Norden beat the Netherlands' Maaike Caelers and Chile's Barbara Riveros Diaz, just two and a half weeks after her incredible sprint for silver at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
New Zealand's Kate McIlroy was also in the race but retired after helping the pack to reel in a breakaway on the cycle leg. She sits in 10th place in the ITU rankings while fellow Kiwi Andrea Hewitt, who did not race, slipped from first to second overall with Australian Erin Densham now the leader.
