A bit of push and shove between old rivals Myles Greenwood and Rex Roycroft at the Whangarei Speedway caused a stir with the control tower, but the crowd loved it.
It wasn't until the final round of the production saloons division when Greenwood and Roycroft let some steam off and gave each other a battering for the entire final round race.
Having been summoned to the control tower before they'd even got out of their cars, Greenwood and Roycroft had to face the wrath of the race referee, who was not as amused as spectators who gave the drivers enthusiastic applause.
Sunday's racing welcomed drivers who were returning to compete at Whangarei's speedway after the Christmas break, with a particularly good turnout in the limited saloons.
Sunday was very much a family day with Lydon Morrison taking Limited Saloon points for the day and his grandson Cole winning the mini stocks.
