Southern Districts Premier Grade leaders Mid Northern head to Wellsford's Centennial Park tomorrow looking for a large helping of a dish best served cold - revenge.
The sixth-round clash between the two teams saw Wellsford serve up a 13-20 defeat at Hukerenui and Mid Northern are hungry to redress that.
Mid Northern coach Vaughan Going said: "Our forwards weren't as strong earlier in the season and I think they've really become our strong point now.
"We're pretty confident we'll take a better forward pack down with us than last time around." Going said despite the improvements the team have made they'll have their work cut out for them as the race towards the semifinals intensifies.
"It's still an away game and we have to be wary of them because they've had a loss or two and they'll want to put that straight," Going said.
Wellsford remain an injury-ravaged side but have some good news ahead of the match, with captain Stu Oldfield returning after two weeks out.
Second-placed Mid Western beat Wellsford last week and have one of the easiest propositions of the round when they host Kamo. But they have struggled all season to put away weaker teams and may battle to put Kamo away.
The Western Sharks will be hoping to defeat Hora Hora at home, something no one has managed since Marist beat them in the first week of April.
The Sharks have been the big improvers but know that will be tested at Hora Hora Park.
Sharks coach Laurie Davies said: "We're going into this match confident but we also know that Hora Hora haven't lost since the beginning of the round and it's the time of year they really start to shine - every year."
After a run last night, tactics on how to counter Hora Hora were given some air. "We're expecting them to come around the fringes quite a lot and to attack around the blind side, so we've got to try to counter that if we're going to get anywhere," Davies said.
If the Sharks and Wellsford falter, Hikurangi will have the chance to get back in the play-off race - if they beat Waipu. Hikurangi almost brought up a half century last round but, after Waipu got close to upsetting Marist last week, you get the feeling anything could happen at Caledonian Park.
Marist and Old Boys came up with the only draw in the first round and, this weekend, they play the return match at Okara Park's No2 ground, in what could be the match of the round for the neutrals.
