Kids get chance to face Yovich

Families looking for something to fill a few hours tomorrow need look no further than Cobham Oval.

HRV's local franchise has combined with Northland Cricket to host a family day between 10am-1pm, with the main drawcard being a chance for young fans to face a ball bowled by Northland's Joey Yovich.

Yovich, who has played 121 first-class matches for Northern Districts, will have a bat and bowl with the kids.

The day will also feature a bit of a coaching clinic with Northland Cricket coaches Sam Walker and Henry Cooper coming along to help out.

Northland Cricket general manager Warren Marr invited people to head on down and have some fun.

"Come along and enjoy the day," Marr said.

A gold coin entry will see proceeds going to the Asthma Foundation, and there will be a sausage sizzle with giveaways also taking place.

The Northland Cricket Association have announced Northland will host Holland in January as they prepare to qualify for the Cricket World Cup - which is to be held in New Zealand.

General manager Warren Marr said the Dutch side will be in Northland for about five days and will play a Northland selection in two matches at the ground . Matches will be played January 6 and 7. Entry is free.
