Kamo High School's goal defence Teaorangi Cherrington (pictured), worked hard for her team during their clash with Takahiwai in the Whangarei premier grade's promotion-relegation round on Saturday.
But she couldn't prevent eighth-placed side Takahiwai beating Kamo, who sit at the top of reserve grade, 37-30.
Takahiwai backed up the win with a 17-point victory over Marist Social.
Seventh-placed premier grade's Fideliter Development had a narrow win against second-placed reserve side Marist Social 25-24, but then came crashing down against Kamo, who thumped them 45-31.
Both premier grade teams stay put thanks to their wins, ahead of the first week of the championship round on Friday.
Takahiwai remain in eighth and play premier grade front-runners Marist Combined at 6.15pm, while second-placed Marist 1 play Fideliter Development at 7.30pm - both games are at Kamo High School.
At Kensington, third-placed Whangarei Old Boys play Fideliter 1 at 6.15pm, followed by fourth-placed Whangarei Girls High School against sixth-placed Manawanui at 7.30pm.
