JUNIOR SPORT - Rippa rugby tournament

Whangarei Primary School's Vicki Ivanova is all smiles as she gets into the action at the Taniwha Rippa rugby tournament at Tikipunga yesterday.
More than 1000 Whangarei school pupils got into rugby mode in the first Northland Rugby Union "Rippa-Rugby" event. The union is planning to roll out more tournaments throughout the North to encourage more pupils to take part in the popular non-contact version of the game.
The success yesterday means more tournaments will be staged next year involving as many primary-school pupils as possible.
