COMPETITION was tight with some high standards shown at the Northland Gymnastics Championships held over the weekend at the Whangarei Academy of Gymnastics centre in Kamo.
The weather was of course a talking point with several competitors and a couple of judges unable to find safe journey to the competition, meaning
a hasty reshuffle for the organisers.
For the younger competitors, it was refreshing to have Fiona Wilson competing again. She retired in 2004 but has returned to competition this year. Wilson is Northland's only senior gymnast, competing at Level 8.
A representative team from Northland is being worked on but is yet to be finalised. The final qualifying competition will be held in Auckland next weekend.
