There weren't too many arguments about the scoring as the North Coast Boardriders and Ocean Beach Boardriders sat down to enjoy their sausage sizzle after the Fuller Trophy competition at Sandy Bay.
The event was won comfortably by the home team in variable surfing conditions.
There was little chance of any other result after the Ocean Beach surfers failed to get a surfer into the open division final.
The other divisions were also dominated by the Fuller Trophy holders but with both clubs contributing half of the judging panel - with the neutral Nudge Piper the chief judge - there were no complaints to be had.
"It was great to finally hold a challenge event with so many other events normally getting in the way and pushing it into the background," North Coast organiser Mal Egginton said.
"It's been five years since the last challenge but after a great day on Saturday we're already looking forward to the next one which will probably be the Far North Boardriders Club, who have already said they're keen," he said.
While some may have pointed to a lack of competition in the veteran's classes it was not a major point of contention, particularly as the holders get to set the structure for the competition.
Patxi Scott-Arrieta won the men's junior competition ahead of his brother Manu in second, with OB's Fraser Seymour and Jack Treacy in third and fourth.
The women's competition was won by NC's Hannah Massicks, with OB's Heather Easterbrook and Aleisha Merchant in second and third.
The longboard was won by NC's Sean Carter with team-mate Simon Egginton second and OB's Darryl Walker and Rupert Newbold filling the minor placings. The clean sweep in the open was led by Chad Dowsett, with teammates' Scott-Arrieta, Joey Carroll and Joe Moretti making up the minor placings.
