Northland's rugby community will be welcoming back one of its former stars this season, with Cam Goodhue returning from a stint in England with Worcester.
Goodhue, who is both a former Taniwha and Blues loose forward, has been signed by the Northland Rugby Union (NRU) ahead of this season's ITMCup.
NRU chief executive Jeremy Parkinson was glad to see the man mountain return, saying it would be good for the sport in Northland also.
"We're just glad that he's back. He's an experienced Northland ITM Cup player who's coming back and he'll add strength to our ITM Cup squad this season," Parkinson said, adding Goodhue was bought out of the remainder of his Worcester contract after an injury lay-off.
The re-signing of Goodhue continues the NRU's strategy of having a Taniwha side full of Northlanders, a strategy which includes enticing Northlanders playing elsewhere to return to pull on the Cambridge Blue jersey.
The 28-year-old will take up a position with the NRU as its Far North rugby development officer, where he is replacing fellow Taniwha player Whiria Meltzer, and will be based in Kaikohe.
