With premier hockey having signed off in July, open grade hockey took centre stage at the Whangarei hockey turf on Saturday as final placings were decided.
Kicking off the finals action was Marist and Ruatangata in the Division 2 Men's Grand Final, which Ruatangata won 1-nil. In the Division 2 Women's Grand Final, the Western Sharks were victors 4-3 over Old Girls, Rodney were too good for Bream Bay as they won 4-nil in the Division 1 Men Grand Final, Bream Bay's Division 1 women were too good in their final as they took it out 7-2 over Ruatangata. In the Reserve B Women final, Old Girls were too strong for Hikurangi by one goal to none. Hikurangi were again on the receiving end in the Sportsmans Choice Reserve A Women Grand Final, going down 2-1 to Whangarei Girls' High School.
Capping off the day's action was Springfield who ran out 3-2 victors over Maungakaramea in the Reserve Men's final.
