With less than a month until the Waitangi Pro-Am, there's still the opportunity for two more teams to sign up.

Participants this year are expected to include 2014 winners Peter Lee, Josh Geary, Fraser Wilkin, Mark Brown, Gareth Paddison and Nick Gillespie.

Charles Parker, general manager of Fullers Great Sights Bay of Islands and chairman of Destination Marketing Group says, "it's been a stunning summer for the Bay of Islands and high calibre events like this encourage even more Kiwis to head up north.

"Last year's event was a big success on one of the country's most beautiful courses and we expect this year's to be even better".

The Pro-Am is 30 teams of four, comprising a professional and three amateurs.

Scoring will be based on the best three Stableford scores per hole, including the professionals over the 18 holes, with a maximum handicap of 24 for the men and 30 for the ladies. The event is free for spectators keen to see some of New Zealand's best golfers in action.

Dave Winslow, tournament convenor for the Waitangi Pro-Am says, "We had rave reviews for last year's Pro-Am and have an exciting line-up this year plus a large prize table so there's everything to play for. In addition, it's a challenging course which also provides stunning sea views of the Bay of Islands, so it offers every golfer whether amateur or professional, the ultimate setting for a great round of golf."

The Waitangi Pro-Am event, which was won twice in the 1980s by New Zealand golfing great Frank Nobilo, will commence on April 2 at 5.30pm.
