The score was 6-0 but it should've been more - nine or 10 nil, but we'll take six. It was good to get back to our winning ways.Dean Wheatley, North Force coachThe North Force men regained their winning touch at Kamo Football Park on Saturday against an under-par Oratia side, defeating the visitors 6-0.
Coach Dean Wheatley was pleased his team seemed back on track in the US1 Premiership after a bad spell in which they lost three consecutive games, and praised their play.
"Under the conditions we played some very good football," he said, referring to a wet and soggy Whangarei on Saturday.
North Force dominated the match from start to finish, with Steve Schimmel scoring a hat-trick, and well and truly recovered after missing last week's game because of a bruised rib.
Also in fine form was Sammy Oso, who found the back of the net twice, and Jason Teale, who scored one for the Northern outfit, leaving the cellar-dwellers scoreless.
"They (Oratia) were not a good side, and we punished them," Wheatley said.
"The score was 6-0 but it should've been more - nine or 10 nil, but we'll take six. It was good to get back to our winning ways."
Steve Crowley was the pick of the many standouts for North Force, playing wide on the right and left.
"Steve interchanged between both the left and right, and his work rate was really high throughout the game," Wheatley said.
The side want to keep up the hard work now they have experienced victory again.
Next week they play away to North Shore, who have also had mixed results this season and sit one spot below the eighth-placed North Force.
North Force Reserves were also in winning form, pipping Oratia 2-1.
Wheatley and Mike Crowley (a reserve for the North Force against Glenfield) game) were red-carded during last week's encounter with Glenfield, but have had their appeal allowed by the US1 League management football board.
The referee had sent the pair from the player's bench to the sideline for verbally challenging the referee's decisions but North Force appealed and supplied the board with eye-witness accounts of the incident.
The board's decision allowed Wheatley to take his place on the bench during the game against Oratia at the weekend.
