Whangarei's Katie Rood and her Northern side have booked their place in the ASB Women's Football League Grand final after a hard-fought 2-0 semifinal victory over a determined Capital side.
Despite missing an early penalty shot, Rood was credited for a strong performance by assistant coach Chris Acott.
"She lead the line well," said Acott.
"They pretty much put a girl on Katie [Rood] the whole game, so every time she got the ball she had a girl on her back.
"She did really well and had really good attacking play and set up others around her well. She didn't score, but there are parts to an attacker's game other than scoring," said Acott.
