This weekend sees Northland summer sport have one final shot before settling down for Christmas break.
The Super Basketball League and TTT Classic play their final round one matches before taking a month-long break, returning January 11. The final round matches see Whangaruru Tukaiaia take on the Portland Flames at 2pm while Bloodlines Whangaruru play the in-form Portland Blazers at 4pm. Both games are in Kamo. The City Hawks travel to Kaitaia to take on the Far North Thunder.
Playing last night were Phoenix Takahiwai who played the Bucks in Kamo, with the Maunu Lights and Raumaunga Royals also playing in Kamo last night.
The final round of premier cricket sees the Lion Red Cup, the one-day competition, return as Kaipara Flats Cricket Club play Onerahi Central in Kaipara. In the other one-day match of the weekend, City take on Kamo at the Cobham Oval. This weekend most of the junior cricket grades also finish up until mid-January. Premier grade cricket will return on January 11 with another Lion Red Cup match.
