The State Northern Knights have named a strong side for their season-opening State Championship fixture against the Otago Volts in Dunedin, starting on Monday.
Tauranga 19-year-old left-arm paceman Trent Boult looks set to make his debut for the Knights, as will fellow left-armer and former Otago player Bradley Scott. Michael Parlane returns to the side he represented for many years before heading to Wellington to join his brother Neal and play for the Firebirds.
The Knights have three players who have played for the Black Caps, six who have played for New Zealand A and two who were part of the NZ Under-19 team that competed at last year's Youth World Cup.
Daniel Vettori, Daniel Flynn and Tim Southee are with the Black Caps in Australia.
The team: James Marshall (captain), Michael Parlane, Joseph Yovich (Northland), Graeme Aldridge, Trent Boult, Kane Williamson (Bay of Plenty), Brent Arnel, Bruce Martin, Bradley Scott, BJ Watling (Hamilton), Peter McGlashan (Counties Manukau), Cameron Merchant (Waikato Valley).
