Eighteen-year-old Kane Williamson has won the Northern Districts Cricket Player of the Year award at a dinner in Hamilton on Wednesday night.
The State Northern Knights all-rounder had a fantastic season with the bat - also earning him this year's accolades as the best ND batsman - and chimed in with some important bowling spells, particularly during the highly successful State Shield campaign.
Northland players picked up a number of prizes, with former Kerikeri spin bowler Bruce Martin picking up the best bowler prize.
Northland won the second XI competition and was awarded the Basil McBurney Trophy.
The Brian Dunning Cup, awarded for the men's one day championship was shared this year between Hamilton and Counties Manukau, who finished equal on points and share the championship.
The Fergus Hickey Rosebowl was won by Bay of Plenty.
The Allan McBride Trophy was won by Ron Rae, while the Services to Coaching prize went to Steve Davies. The Umpire of the Year was Tony Hill the ABN AMRO Craigs Academy Player of the Year is Anurag Verma.
The Northern Districts Young Cricketer of the Year was won by Trent Boult, the ND women's player of the year is Kate Pulford, while the ND A player of the year was Kaipara Flat's Brad Wilson. BJ Watling was the fielder of the year.
There were special presentations made for scorer Bill Andersson's 100th first class match, the New Zealand record one day batting partnership of 196 between Kane Williamson and Peter McGlashan and to former White Fern Louise Milliken, who retired from cricket at the end of the season
