"We have a solid forward pack, with a front row including Ross Wright, Paddy Joe Atkins and Joe Treadwell, and we also have Northland's Atere Davis who is injured at the moment after receiving a knock to his lung in round two against Kamo," Neal said.
The backline has seen the return of first five-eighths Johnny Moimoi, back from playing rugby in the United Kingdom, along with fullback Matt Wright. The combination of Wright along with the two wings Ian Neal and Dylan Lewis have set the backline alight, with the trio offering exciting counter-attacking play.
Thursday night's game against Old Boys at Waipu ebbed and flowed, and at halftime it was very much anyone's game.
Wellsford's Eddie Hay scored the first try of the game, before Old Boys fullback Mateo Malupo struck back with two tries of his won. Matt Wright added another try and his two first half conversions gave Wellsford a slight edge heading into halftime, up 12-14.
Wellsford's forwards put on a dominant display in the second half, laying a good platform for the backs. Lock Louie Smith crashed over the line to score, after the forwards applied good pressure on Old Boys and Moimoi added another to extend Wellsford's lead.
Old Boys fought hard, but couldn't contain Wellsford, who picked up a bonus point for their efforts.
Neal added it had been difficult to pick a player of the day at each game so far this season, as all of the teammembers were working hard.
Lock and player-coach Scott Brady picked up the forward of the day award.
In next week's fifth round, Wellsford meet Marist who are shaping up to be the team to beat this season, following their 45-12 win over Otamatea on Thursday - which was also their fourth win in four clashes.
Hikurangi fell to Mid Northern 11-18, while Mid Western suffered their second consecutive loss against Kamo. Kamo nabbed their first win of the season beating their hosts 10-14, and Hora Hora had a 10-24 win over Western Sharks at Dargaville.
