The Dive Inn Whangaruru and Global Diamonds Fideliter 2 had a close encounter in Whangarei Netball's premier reserve grade, with Whangaruru 1 nabbing a 37-32 win.
Whangaruru's Tara Wells at centre showed good command of the midcourt in Saturday's clash, and a move by Harriett Hardy to wing defence during the game made a big difference to the feed into the circle. Following an injury, Causha Kingi moved to goal attack and shot well under pressure. Rhiannon Sadler in defence, and Sophie Tua at the opposite end of the court, led the team by example.
For Fideliter 2, goal shoot Lisa Dangen shot accurately, Katrina Simpson had a strong game in defence and Kellie Metcalf in midcourt linked the two ends.
Both Wahine Toa teams showed their dominance this week. Wahine Toa Combined had a strong 43-22 win against Precision Planning Fideliter 3 and then Wahine Toa 1 had a big 56-36 victory against Marist Social.
For Wahine Toa Combined, Pahu Kani had a fast and skilful game in midcourt feeding the circle well and providing good defence. The defence unit of Cherri Neho, Anya Garland and Raina Doar worked hard and stopped a lot of ball into the Fideliter shooters and on attack Te Aroha Palmer brought speed to the shooting circle. Aropreina Poananga was strong at wing attack for Wahine Toa 1.
