Female drivers will be of particular interest to the Northland Car Club at tomorrow's motorkhana in Tikipunga.
After a push from Motorsport New Zealand to get more female drivers behind the wheel, the Northland Car Club is following their lead and hoping to see more women as drivers rather than co-drivers.
At the motorkhana in the carpark of the Tikipunga Tavern, female drivers will especially be welcomed, along with younger drivers.
Northland Car Club publicity officer Alan Strong said the event, which was also the last of the season, would be a simple one that focused on simple tasks for drivers.
"We are keen to have more females involved, definitely," Strong said, adding it's a level playing field. "Maybe at one time we could have a ladies day, but there needs to be the demand.
