There's just no stopping the Whangarei Boys' High School golf team. They have been crowned Northland secondary schools champions for the third time in a row.
However, with Boys' High laying claim to a number of Northland's top golfing talents, there was an air of inevitability around what to expectin the team's section. And, Boys' High delivered.
Led by newly crowned NZ Amateur champion Kadin Neho, Boys' High's number one team romped to a 14 stroke win at the Whangarei Golf Club on Monday.
But Boys' High weren't finished. Their top three golf teams took out the top three spots at the championships, how's that for depth?
With nearly 40 players taking part, with 10 schools represented, Neho's round of 74 secured him the individual boy's honour while the girl's title went to Shanice Croft-Kemp of Whangarei Girls' High.
Boys' High also claimed the top three positions in the team gross competition while the nett competition was taken out by the composite team of Leesa Paenga, of Tikipunga High School, Belinda May, of Matarau School, and Taimana Ngakuru-Smith, of Tauraroa Area School, with second place going to Whangarei Girls' High School.
As a result of Boys' High's win, they now have a chance to defend the national title they won last year. The national championships will be held in Christchurch in September.
