The Secondary Schools' Competition ended at the Whangarei greens on Friday.

Some very promising bowlers were on display and it will be a headache for the Northland selectors to come up with a squad for trials for the Northland Secondary Schools' Competition.

Well done to all players and thanks to Whangarei for the use of their facilities and to the helpers who attended on the day. Prizes for the event were donated by the Northland Centre.

Boys' singles: 1st: Ashley Pattenden, Kamo High; 2nd: Josh Booth, Whangarei Boys; 3rd: Casey Attwood, Whangarei Boys' High School.

Boys' pairs: 1st: Brad James and Cory Bellamy, Ruawai College; 2nd: Jesse Samu and Jared Jones, Whangarei Boys; 3rd: Bronson Apiata and Tydhg O'Brien, Tikipunga High.

Girls' pairs: 1st: Paige Johnstone, Zara Wech, Kamo High; 2nd: Greer Morgan and Shayna Gentil, Whangarei Girls; 3rd: Shannan Namana, Toni Takimoana, Whangarei Girls.

Singles event

The following clubs have entered the Singles Champion of Champion event to be held on April 21.

Men: Arapohue, Dargaville, Hikurangi, Kamo, Kensington, Leigh, Mangawhai, Maungakaramea, Maungatapere, Maungaturoto, Mt Manaia, Ngunguru, Onerahi, One Tree Pt, Ruawai, Te Kopuru, Waipu, Whangarei.

Women: Arapohue, Hikurangi, Kamo, Kensington, Mangawhai, Maungatapere, Maungaturoto, Ngunguru, Onerahi, One Tree Pt, Ruawai, Waipu, Whangarei.

Reporting time at Bowls Whangarei is 8.15am.

Nominations

Closing dates for nominations for centre president, vice-president, board members (two), centre selectors (men and women); Representative team managers and coaches have been extended to April 30. The positions of president and vice-president should be from clubs. All other positions are open to individual nomination. See your club secretary for a nomination form or contact the centre office.

Nominations for Northland Bowls Sports Awards are also now being accepted. See your club secretary for forms.

The awards will be presented at our dinner and awards night on May 25.
