About 50 secondary school students will lay claim to the greens at Bowls Whangarei tomorrow when they compete in the first elimination competition to find a secondary school Northland representative team for the coming season.
Boys and girls will be competing in singles and pairs. A team ofsix boys and six girls will be chosen to represent Northland in Secondary Schools competition later in the year.
Players from Ruawai College, Tikipunga High, Kamo High, Whangarei Boys and Whangarei Girls High will be taking part.
Entries are slowly coming in for the Junior Singles and the 1-10 Year Any Combination triples.
If you want to play in these events, please enter your name promptly.
Final event
The final Champion of Champion event for the season will take place at the Whangarei greens on April 21, when the Champ of Champ Singles will be contested. Entries have already been forwarded by clubs, but if you are a club winner and do not intend to take part in this event, please ensure that your club advises the Centre Match Committee immediately of your withdrawal.
Board members
Clubs and bowlers are advised that the Centre has extended the closing date for nominations for Board Members (two required): president, vice-president, centre selectors, coaches and managers to April 30.
Nominations for president and vice-president must be signed by clubs, but individuals are free to put forward their nomination along with a current CV for all other positions.
