Northern Districts have made two changes to the squad to travel to Napier for their vital eighth match with the Central Stags starting on Monday at McLean Park in Napier.
ND welcome back seamer Graeme Aldridge and captain James Marshall, who missed the game against Auckland through illness, to replace Brook Hatwell and Bradley Scott.
Wicketkeeper Peter McGlashan, who at least reached two personal milestones - passing 2000 runs and 150 dismissals - in a disappointing 18-run loss to bottom-placed Auckland on Thursday said the side was determined not to let the Stags get the points against them.
"It's normally a pretty good wicket down there so it should be a good battle, we've had some success down there over the last couple of years and fingers crossed we can do the same again," he said.
McGlashan said Marshall's return was good timing for the side, who were cruelly exposed by a superb spell of bowling by Chris Martin (5-61), chasing down 196 to win in their round seven match.
"Brooke's done well for us after being called into the team but it'll be good to have James back in - he's the captain and the senior player and he should help shore up the middle order," he said.
The Hawke's Bay born and bred wicket-keeper said the loss to Auckland wasn't a train wreck for ND because the other teams competing for the lead in the Plunket Shield didn't capitalise on the Knights loss.
The Stags lead the competition with 26 points, trailed by ND on 24 with Otago a further two points back on 22.
Northern Districts: James Marshall (captain), Graeme Aldridge, Brent Arnel, Jono Boult, Trent Boult, Jason Donnelly, Daniel Flynn, Hamish Marshall, Peter McGlashan, BJ Watling, Brad Wilson, James Baker.
