5 GOOD SPORTS IN 2008 - Sam Warriner

Sam Warriner ended the year as the world's number one female triathlete.
After an Olympics she'd rather forget, she demonstrated physical and psychological strength to win the world title. With one race left in the world series, Warriner had to place seventh or higher to take the world title. She won, convincingly.
Warriner was also Northland's Sportsperson of the Year in 2008.
She was overwhelmed, and surprised.
"I thought Cameron Leslie would win with (his) Olympic gold."
Leading into 2009, Warriner's showing no signs of slowing down and is enthusiastic about challenging for, and retaining, the world title.
