Ngati Hine Festival 2015
Thousands gathered at Otiria Marae in Moerewa for Te Ahuareka o Ngati Hine, a two-day festival celebrating all things Ngati Hine om March 13-14. Friday’s focus was children’s kapa haka; on Saturday it was the adults’ turn on stage. The “extra-strong” opening karakia must have done the trick because the festival wrapped up successfully in fine weather before Cyclone Pam made itself felt. The biennial event will return in 2017.
