Reader V Francis writes in with a proposal for a record-breaking tourist attraction in Northland:
The impression I have is that the people of Whangarei would like to have something to draw tourists to Whangarei.
Among the assets Whangarei has are several high hills, Parahaki at 259m above sea level and Hurupaki in Kamo at 349m above sea level. My suggestion is a ferris wheel on one of these. The highest ferris wheel in the world is 246m above sea level. So a ferris wheel on one of these would be the highest ferris wheel in the world .
A gondola-type lift to the ferris wheel and the wheel itself.
