A slippery slide, face painting, and instrument making.
These are just some of the many activities taking place at The Pulse Whangarei for Children's Day.
Last year's event attracted 3000 punters - the largest amount since the event started in the early 2000s.
On Sunday from 10am to 1pm there will be a sausage sizzle, Lego station, drawing, big board games, the mobile library, paddertennis, volley ball, a parent tent, photography, hand printing, singing, stage performers and more.
Later in the evening, from 5pm to 7pm, there will be a community dinner at The Pulse for all low income families.
Kaikohe Children's Day
Community groups in Kaikohe have come together to celebrate Te Ra o nga Tamariki.
There will be games, water slides, giveaways, sausage sizzles and hip hop dancing from 10am to 4pm tomorrowat the Kaikohe Skate Park.
Teddy Bears Picnic Hikurangi
Put on your best fancy dress costume, grab your teddy and dress him or her up to, and head to Hikurangi.
Children's Day is being celebrated with a Teddy Bears Picnic at the Hikurangi Community Park from 12pm to 3pm on Sunday. There will be lots of fun activities and games, storytelling, face painting, picture drawing, and a rock hunt.
Competitions on the day include a teddy bear dance off, best dressed bear, best picture, and best dressed costume.
Te Ra o nga Tamariki – Kaitaia
Kaitaia is celebrating Children's Day with an afternoon of family fun.
There will be lots of prizes and giveaways, a sausage sizzle, fruit and water, bouncy castles, a DJ, a photo booth, and a bombing competition.
The event, held at the Kaitaia Town Swimming Pools, runs from 2.30pm to 6.30pm on Sunday.
