Staff at the store that sold Whangarei's latest Lotto First Division winning ticket are delighted the $333,333 prize went to a regular customer.

A ticket sold at Whangarei Paper Plus was one of three nationally that each won $333,333 in Saturday night's draw and store manager Michelle Nicolson said the lucky winner was in first thing yesterday to claim their prize.

Ms Nicolson said it was great that the winner was local and regular customer of the store. "We're all just really pleased it was a local, regular customer who won it. It's wonderful for Whangarei," she said.

Ms Nicolson said the staff were delighted to find out it was a regular who had won. "The last time we sold a big winner we never heard afterwards who it was, so we weren't sure if it was regular or local, so we're happy to find out this time," she said. The store could not release any details about the winner. The store's last big winning Lotto ticket was sold in 2012.

Meanwhile, a ticket sold at Tony's Stationary & Lotto was one of 22 nationally that each won $13,344 with Lotto Second Division in Saturday's draw.
